Meet Dr. Allison Johns
Dr. Allison Johns is a double board-certified physician in both Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism and also Internal Medicine. Dr. Johns completed her Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism fellowship at Wake Forest University and her residency at the world-renowned Tinsley Harrison Internal Medicine Program at The University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center. At the conclusion of her Internal Medicine residency, Dr. Johns was honored as a Chief Medical Resident for the prestigious program.
With extensive experience in managing complex endocrine conditions—including Diabetes, Thyroid disorders, and metabolic disorders—Dr. Johns recognized the vital importance of taking the time to truly understand her patients. Dr. Johns understands that managing endocrine conditions—such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, and metabolic disorders—requires more than quick visits and standardized treatment protocols. It requires a Doctor that is also your Coach, Partner, and Teammate. Her practice is built on the idea every patient deserves a personalized custom treatment plan to fit each individual’s unique health needs and lifestyle. This unique approach favors Quality of care over Quantity of care.
Dr. Johns is also active in medical education and research, with a focus on improving diabetes care and weight management strategies. She is passionate about empowering patients with knowledge, ensuring they feel confident in their healthcare decisions.

At Precision Diabetes & Endocrinology Dr. Johns is redefining what it means to receive thoughtful, personalized endocrine care—because your health journey deserves time, attention, and expertise.
Dr. Johns’ healthcare practice is a subscription model, where patients invest in ongoing exam/communication services that are well beyond what healthcare insurance plans cover. This enables Dr. Johns to take all of the time needed, without plan restrictions on care or time, to maximize your healthcare outcomes. We structured our patient fees to be fair market and a strong value, and designed our program to render patients qualified medical expenses such that pre-tax and employer funds (HSA, FSA, HRA and MSA funds) can be allocated to our subscription fees. We believe this ongoing routine exam model—over 100 years old and designed to keep VIP patients as healthy as possible—represents a superior version of preventative healthcare for everyone. Dr. Johns believes you are a VIP and deserve an enhanced preventative care model. While conventional healthcare out-of-pocket costs are often unpredictable and surprisingly expensive, it is prudent to invest in better prevention.

FAQs
What makes Precision Diabetes & Endocrinology different?
Dr. Johns values being an advocate, teacher, and partner with her patients. She aims to get to know her patients to provide superior care. At Precision Diabetes & Endocrinology, patients will receive ongoing annual and follow-up routine diagnostic exams. This in combination with year round communication with Dr. Johns that is not limited by plan reimbursement restrictions is collectively designed to enhance health rather than strictly react to illness. Dr. Johns believes that this practice design will allow for healthcare that is not reacting, but preventing.
How will Precision Diabetes & Endocrinology work with my health insurance?
Dr. Johns does intend to remain in network with several insurance providers and will bill your insurance directly for professional services that are covered by your plan. If insurance requires a copay, we are obligated to collect the copay at the time of service. Please inquire about your specific insurance plan to see if we are in network.
The annual fee includes services not covered by private insurance or medicare and cannot be submitted by Dr. Johns or the patient for reimbursement.
Is the annual fee tax deductible? Can I use my HSA or FSA?
The practice is designed so that in many instances you can utilize pre-tax dollars, employer funded contributions or MSA fees to pay for all or part of the annual fee.
Please check with your employer in regards to employer specific funds.
